The drive to always try new things and push myself to new physical heights is what brought me to Kaia FIT in May of 2011. As a kid growing up in Placerville, I did everything from riding horses, river rafting and playing basketball to snowboarding and running pass patterns with my dad and older brother. For me, Kaia provides everything I loved about being active as a kid - the challenges, the thrill of accomplishment and the camaraderie with teammates. Nothing makes me happier than a pair of dusty, well-worn running shoes, a great play list, an early morning run, jumping on big boxes and being with friends. Kaia also gives me an outlet for one of my favorite past times, the good old fashioned high-five! When I am not at Kaia you can find me riding bikes with my husband, reading, listening to NPR, racking up airline miles, enjoying a Bowl of Soul at Tupelo, snuggling with my pair of cats, running with my two cattle dogs or watching Murder She Wrote.

I grew up in the Bay Area spending countless hours playing outside, gardening with my family, riding bikes and taking years of ballet classes. After trying softball, tennis and swimming (without much grace), I realized I loved cheerleading. I joined pop-warner then my high school’s cheer team, traveling California for competitions and Orlando for Nationals. In high school I also became a pop-warner coach, helping bring 1st place titles. As a senior I was encouraged by a coach to try out as a professional cheerleader. Without much expectation, I was surprised when I was selected as one of “Footballs Fabulous Females,” the Oakland Raiderettes- a life-changing experience. I eventually moved to Sacramento and joined Sac State’s Ballroom Dance Company. There I made amazing friendships and learned to rhumba, salsa and cha cha. I treasured dancing with my teammates and became President of the company- something I am very proud of and looks back fondly on. When I met my husband met, we began running together. This passion for training and racing 5k’s, 10k’s and half-marathons helped clear my mind especially after the birth of our son Albert and daughter Navy. Eventually, I realized I needed more in my life than just trying to get my next PR. Enter Kaia FIT! Kaia has inspired me to achieve new goals and made me a better wife and mother (not to mention getting my body back after baby). With Kaia’s amazing coaches and teammates and nutritional guidance I am the strongest, healthiest and most athletic I have ever been. I wish is that all women are given the opportunity to try Kaia FIT to see the full potential of their own beauty, strength and power.

I LOVE the outdoors! Growing up my 4 brothers and I spent our summers camping, backpacking and sailing in the Sierras. In 2011 I was desperately searching for motivation and a way to get back into shape, so I took up running and trained for my first ½ marathon alone… I was bored and unmotivated. SO I began looking for something to supplement my active lifestyle and a community who shared that passion. THEN I found KAIA and I’ve been hooked ever since. I love that Kaia provides me with an encouraging and uplifting sisterhood and is more than just a gym, but a community and a lifestyle. The variety and versatility that Kaia offers allowed me to stay active up until the week I gave birth to my son in January 2015. As a working mom with a busy schedule, I love knowing that my one hour away with Kaia will always be a sweaty, fun filled hour of variety and challenges that push me to the next level, both mentally and physically. As a cyclist and former outdoor school educator, I love that I can share my obsession for bikes when training with and coaching I Kan TRI! When I’m not at the gym, my favorite activities include cycling, hiking, kayaking, cooking, yoga and walking with my husband Chris, son Ryland and dog Arya.

I was raised in San Luis Obispo, moving to Sacramento in 2006 to attend Sac State. In “SLO” I reaped all of the benefits from growing up in a small town on the coast, which meant a playground of beaches and nature hikes. I’ve always been inherently active, involved in swimming, dance, gymnastics and various summer sports camps throughout childhood. This was also likely a side effect of growing up a triplet and having parents that were always searching for ways for three girls to burn off excess energy! Through college I always, had a gym membership, and would supplement solo workouts with kickboxing, boot camps, running programs and yoga. In 2011 a friend invited me to try Kaia FIT Sacramento and I fell in love. What got me to sign up was the amazing workout. What kept me was that Kaia became a lifestyle, a community, a support system and a sports TEAM! Kaia has been the catalyst for so many new challenges and best friends for life. I feel beyond lucky to share my passion for Kaia by coaching the awesome ladies of Kaia FIT Sunrise. In my personal life I have always taken great pleasure in motivating others to realize their full potential and break out of their comfort zones; so being a Kaia coach has really filled that place in my heart. When not at Kaia, I spend my working hours with a commercial real estate firm negotiating national and international lease transactions (while challenging colleagues to push-up competitions). Otherwise you’ll me traveling, camping, kayaking, cycling or hanging out in the yard with my husband Patrick and super-pup, Chuck.

I grew up in Sacramento and have always been very active. As a kid I enjoyed basketball and swimming. I went on to play IM soccer in college/post grad and continued my dedicated fitness routine at the gym or on the streets running. As an avid runner I have completed multiple 10K’s, a few half marathons and finished the CIM in 2013. Even with these accomplishments there was something lacking in my workouts and life. I have tried all the latest workouts, Crossfit, etc. but I still searched for something more… A friend had told me about Kaia F.I.T. and said it seemed like my values and workout ethics would align with what Kaia was all about. I went to one class and sure enough Kaia was the missing link. I love the sense of community, the energy and the strength Kaia could bring into my life from only one workout. I signed up for BRIK and immediately wanted in on sharing this with the entire Sacramento community as a coach and Kaia girl! The workouts, the nutrition, the coaches and the women of Kaia became a large part of my life and I am so excited to share it with the world! In addition to my dedication and love of fitness and health, I have a growing family that I love spending time with. My husband, 2 stepchildren, new baby and 2 cats bring joy to her life. I also enjoy working out, playing with the kids, yummy food and great family and friends!

I grew up in a small town in Calaveras County, where I was constantly outdoors: hiking, skiing, swimming, playing softball, and climbing every tree I could find (and there were a LOT of trees!) I moved to Sacramento after high school to attend CSUS and also pursue a career in professional music. As I followed my passion and found my place in the local music scene, I did my best to maintain my active lifestyle, not only for overall health, but for the stamina that was needed for late nights and long weekends of performing. Years went by, and priorities shifted drastically with the birth of my daughter. I started to lose sight of my health and fitness goals. I found Kaia in the summer of 2013, right as the Carmichael gym opened. At the time, I desperately needed a program that would challenge me and hold me accountable, respect my nutrition philosophies (I’m a longtime vegetarian/vegan), work with my schedule, and also get me outside as often as possible! Kaia was perfect. My husband wasn’t sure that the late night musician in me could handle getting up at 5:30am for 6am workouts, but I made the commitment and never looked back. Since becoming a Kaia girl/coach, I’ve gained the mental and physical strength to run three half-marathons, a leg of the CIM, and open for Rock and Roll hall-of-famers, HEART! The support, advice, and friendship that comes from being part of this incredible community of women is a benefit that I didn’t anticipate when I signed up back in 2013. Now, I can’t imagine a day without Kaia and these wonderful women in my circle. It’s more than a gym—it’s a way of life.

As a part of our program, we also offer nutritional guidance to help you make healthy food choices and keep your fitness on track.

BARRE

Our barre-based class is a unique combination of postures inspired by ballet, yoga, Pilates and Kaia. Using the barre as a prop to balance, you’ll complete a series of isometric holds combined with high reps of small range movements to elongate and tone your major muscle groups.

In addition to the barre, classes incorporate pilates balls, yoga blocks, and/or resistance bands for increased endurance, challenge and focus. Following each set of holds, you’ll rest and recovery with a short series of stretches and poses to increase flexibility prior to advancing.
Kaia Barre is a low-impact class that perfectly complements our program offerings. Meet us at the barre and try your first class for free!

Participating locations may vary. See the schedule page for more details.

DANCE

Our dance fitness class is rooted in traditional dance. We use those foundational moves and offer a class that is easy enough for beginners yet challenging enough for the more seasoned dancer. The simplicity of the routines allows you to keep moving with ease. Although this is a workout, it feels more like a dance party with your girlfriends.

RUNNING

Improve your speed, skill, endurance, stamina, and strength with our Kaia running program. The program works on developing running skills that can increase speed, endurance, and overall fitness. The program is designed for you to run at your pace and and help you see improvements every step of the way.

The Kaia training is a simple, progressive program designed for women of all ages and all fitness levels. Whether you are a walker, jogger, or runner, you will be able to join this program and move at your own pace. Research has shown that even 20 to 30 minutes of running (two to three times per week) is enough to help you lose or maintain weight and improve many other important health markers, i.e. your cholesterol, blood pressure and insulin response.

Don’t be intimidated by the Kaia Run program name, each class will have walkers, joggers and runners. Keep in mind that the first mile is the hardest mile you will ever run. Once you get off the starting block, things only get easier. All you have to do is be patient and disciplined in your training, and that is where Kaia

POWER YOGA

Kaia Yoga combines mind and body with a power yoga and core-strengthening weekly workout with Pilates-style techniques. We focus on balance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness through stretching, strength training and dynamic movement to improve overall fitness levels.

By creating long, lean muscles, Yoga promotes improved coordination, greater flexibility and a fuller range of motion, with a strong body that’s less prone to injury. Yoga keeps the mind centered and reduces stress through positive thoughts and a sense of mindfulness, which also inspires mental strength and confidence.

Yin Yoga, or restorative yoga, is a quiet contemplative practice. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body. Poses are held for 1 minute or more and transitions between poses are gentle and slow. This class is an excellent compliment to our other classes, provides dedicated stretching, and is known to reduce stress and anxiety.
