I joined Kaia FIT South Reno in April 2011 and was taken by it completely. New to Reno, and on a verge of a major life change, Kaia FIT offered me a lifestyle, a way to find my inner strength and my passion in life. Moving from Israel to be with my Husband, I found a group of women that changed my life. I have been a Kaia coach since April 2012 and it was a natural decision to become a Co – Owner with Andrea Gregg in October 2013.

I’m a certified personal trainer with NASM, registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and a Health Coach with Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I believe that happiness starts with our health and a healthy start is a focus on nutrition and exercise. Coming from a background in Yoga, I believe it is a perfect supplement to any workout plan – tone your body and tame your mind. Plus, it is the trick to killer arms.

I encourage all my students to find what they love and what works for them. “If you enjoy it, you will do it again!” My biggest inspiration is the women of Kaia FIT. They have taught me that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything.

I have participated in the Iron Girl Lake Tahoe Triathlon in 2012 and ran my first half marathon on my birthday last year (can you think of a better gift?!) When I’m not sweating it out at Kaia, you can find me in the kitchen as I love to cook, and more than that, I love to eat! (Healthy of course…)

Andrea, born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, has always led an active lifestyle. She fell in love with sports at a young age when she was the only girl on an all boys soccer team! From there, she continued with many years of soccer, softball, volleyball and snowboarding. Andrea has always had a passion to educate others on the importance of health and wellness. Pursuing this avenue she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Ecology from the University of Nevada. She is the Executive Director for a local nonprofit whose mission is to enhance the quality of healthcare through outreach and education.

Andrea discovered Kaia FIT in August 2011 to prepare for the big day – her wedding! She never looked back. In February 2013 Andrea became a certified Kaia coach and has recently joined forces with her friend and mentor, Yifat Chen, to become Co-Owner of this location. She believes it was her calling to continue her efforts in promoting health, disease prevention and lifelong happiness through fitness. Plus, she has met many amazing women who are now family! These women inspire her everyday to be the best that she can be, to accept new challenges and to set and achieve her goals.

Some of her accomplishments include multiple rigorous bike rides, the completion of two Iron Girl Sprint Triathlons and participation in lots of sanctioned running and biking events! Outside of Kaia FIT Andrea enjoys cooking, thrift shopping, spoiling her four legged children, snowboarding, taking pictures and laughing with her hysterical husband!

I have been physically active my whole life, but have struggled on and off with both weight and food-issues. After my second baby, I stalled in my weight-loss. In my first six-week BRIK, I lost 21 pounds. Kaia taught me how to treat my body and gave me the gift of learning how to properly nourish myself, eating for function and fuel rather than reward or fun.

Since starting with Kaia FIT South Reno, I have not only lost pounds and inches, but gained confidence. I embrace physical challenges such as triathlons, the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, half-marathons and century bike rides. I am a more patient, loving and energetic mother and wife.

I felt so inspired by my Kaia coaches, that I joined the team in July 2012, in hopes of inspiring others as well. In addition I am a middle school science teacher, mother to two spirited kids (Amari & Jackson) and wife to Kirk since 2006.

Hi, My name is Heidi Gabelman and I love Kaia Fit!!

I am 44 years old and have always been physically active and passionate about health, exercise, and nutrition. However, as the years of my life were passing by and turning into decades, I found it difficult to stay motivated and enthusiastic about working out and taking care of myself! I was stuck in a rut. Bored with the same old gym workouts and my routine! I needed something to get me motivated and pumped up again. I needed Kaia!

Thanks to Kaia, I am excited and motivated again. I am physically, mentally, and emotionally happier and healthier. I have strength and energy to participate in the other activities I enjoy like, hiking with my dog, mountain biking, and practicing and teaching yoga.

Kaia Girls are amazing women that support, encourage each other. I am extremely grateful for the friends I have made at Kaia, and the opportunity I have been given to coach and assist beautiful women on their journey to a healthy body, strong mind, and a happy life.

Growing up in the middle of 3 brothers, I have always led an active life full of sports, at 12 I found a passion for martial arts and spent the next 14 years training in Mixed Martial Arts. I achieved my 4th Degree Black Belt and a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Medical reasons kept me from continuing martial arts. Then I found Kaia. Kaia has brought the passion for fitness back into my life, I love pushing my body beyond its limits and seeing the results. Personal progression through a team environment is one of my favorite things about the classes and I love connecting with strong and beautiful women. I am also a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

I love working towards a goal by doing events such as half-marathons, bike rides, the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, Tough Mudders, zombie runs and pretty much any other active thing that sounds like a good time. I will try almost anything once and love life’s adventures. I am hoping to complete my first triathlon in 2014, and my dream is to one day be a contestant on The Amazing Race.

In addition to being a Kaia Coach, I work at Whole Foods Market where I get to be around my passion for good food. Weight loss is achieved mainly by what you put inside your body and then how you exercise your body. I consider myself so lucky to be able to combine both my passions on a daily basis and help educate people about how important both diet and exercise are.

I am lucky to have been born and raised in one of the most beautiful places on earth, Lake Tahoe. Being raised in Lake Tahoe has helped me engage in many athletic and recreational activities from a very young age. It has also continued to drive my love for health and fitness into my adulthood. Growing up, my sport of choice was Alpine Ski Racing. At a very young age, I was able to travel around the United States and internationally to compete in ski races. As an internationally competitive ski racer, I was able to attend the University of Nevada Reno as a student athlete and compete in NCAA Division I Alpine Ski Racing for the University. In 2008, just before attending the University, I received my Personal Trainer’s license from ACE (American Council on Exercise). Although, I graduated with a Business Administration- Marketing Degree, my first love has always been the health/beauty/fitness industry. During my time as a student, I was able to pursue this passion while working as a group fitness instructor and spin instructor. To further my expertise in the beauty industry, I completed my cosmetology license and work currently work as a cosmetologist as well. I believe that one of the most amazing parts of being a personal trainer/fitness instructor and a cosmetologist is having the ability to be a part of transformation. Helping people through health and beauty is a job that I can be proud of calling my own. With almost a decade of personal experience in the gym, competing nationally and internationally in Alpine skiing, and now pursuing further educational endeavors, I am striving to share my skills and knowledge with others. As a personal trainer/group fitness instructor, my objective is to find new and exciting ways to teach not only the skills and techniques needed to succeed in the gym but to also share the role of greatness exercise can and will play in our lives.

I love life and love colors, which first attracted me to Kaia! I grew up in Southern California where I spent my time playing sports and beach games. However, it wasn't until I moved up to Humboldt State on a basketball scholarship, that I really started to appreciate fitness in the outdoors. I graduated with both a BS and MS in Kinesiology with an emphasis in teaching/coaching and I am currently working on a second Masters in Performance and Sport Psychology. After playing collegiate basketball for five year, I played one season professionally in London. I have coached collegiate basketball and personal trained for nearly ten years and most recently worked as a hiking guide in one of the top wellness retreats in the world. Lastly, I love to travel and have been to more than 20 countries in the last eight years, I love food, maps, chap stick and libraries!

I was born and raised in Reno, Nevada and have always had a passion for sports. I fell in love with soccer, basketball, softball, skiing and karate at a young age and continued to pursue soccer and skiing throughout my high school education and beyond. After struggling to lose weight after my second baby I knew I had to find something that taught me to love myself, hold myself accountable, and how to incorporate healthy eating habits into my everyday life. I walked into Kaia FIT in October of 2013 and instantly knew that I had found that “something”. Kaia FIT is not only an amazing place to work out, but also a caring and supportive family. I have lost 33 pounds since joining Kaia, ran my first race, learned to love and understand yoga, tried TRX, and I look forward to my workouts! The women of Kaia FIT have taught me to never give up, help me set and achieve my goals, and keep me motivated and accountable.

I am looking forward to embracing more physical challenges such as, running half-marathons, competing in a triathlon, bike racing and much more! Outside of Kaia FIT I am a wife and mother to two young daughters (Annabelle and Madeline). I also have a career in education as a teacher that I love dearly and value.

I was born in Southern California and moved to Reno when I was 11. Reno is home. I joined Kaia FIT in January 2014. A friend of mine brought me to a Core class. I decided to join because I needed something new and challenging. Let me tell you…Kaia FIT challenges me everyday and after the first week, I was in love. I have always had an active lifestyle and if I’m not at work you can normally find me in the gym or somewhere outdoors. Running is my passion and my stress reliever.

Being a coach is such an amazing opportunity to help women of all ages feel beautiful and love themselves. There’s no better feeling then when you hear someone say they love themselves. I believe people should have self-confidence and a sense of pride in themselves. My goal is to pursue my NASM Personal Trainer Certification and have it completed by summer 2015. I plan to run the Nike Women’s half-marathon in D.C. and the Reno Tahoe Odyssey in Spring 2015.
