Hi! My name is Ashley Lovato. As a young girl, I’ve always wanted to be in good shape and to have a healthy lifestyle. From childhood to motherhood, physical activity has always been an important part of my life. I moved to Elk Grove from San Jose in 2011 and had an opportunity to turn my passion for fitness and helping other into a career. By nature, I am a person drawn to extremes, and I sometimes struggle with finding a happy medium. When I found Kaia FIT in 2012, I was completely intrigued and felt the philosophy was exactly what I needed to achieve balance. Through Kaia FIT, I met one of my closest friend’s and business partner, Jennifer Garrett. Because of our compatibility and passion for fitness, we decided to open Kaia FIT Laguna in 2013. It is because of the friendships at Kaia FIT that Elk Grove feels like home to me. I love being surrounded by women who are trying to better themselves, who are leading their families by example and choosing to be healthy. I think the non-competitive atmosphere creates a support system that allows each person to be vulnerable, show humility and embrace one another’s strengths.   Education, Certifications, Experience: BA, San Jose State University- Communication Studies NCSF Certified Personal Trainer CPR/AED/First Aid Certified Kaia FIT Owner and Certified Head Trainer, TRX Group Trainer, TDM Basics of Barre Certified, 1st place 2012 NPC Governor’s Cup Open Figure Class C, 2nd place 2011 NPC Contra Costa Open Figure Class D, 2005 Women’s Nike Marathon in San Francisco, 2005 Rock n Roll San Diego Marathon. Hometown: Morgan Hill One word to describe yourself: Determined Kaia FIT in one word: Empowering Favorite Kaia-approved meal or snack: Organic chicken, sweet potato, broccoli Guilty food pleasure: Chocolate ANYTHING A favorite fitness memory or “ah-ha” moment: Going without sugar for three months straight and feeling like I could do anything!

My name is Jennifer Garrett and I am a married mom of two very active boys. I have lived in Elk Grove for 15 years. I have long been passionate about fitness. For 2 ½ years, I was a Personal Trainer at Gold’s Gym. Seeing women transform themselves & succeed is what I value most in my work. In 2011 I found Kaia FIT and never looked back. Kaia’s unique approach to fitness and motivating women was something I had to be a part of. My partnership with Ashley began in 2013 because of our shared fitness philosophy and complimentary work ethic. Ashley is one of my closest friends and I look forward to seeing her every day! To me, the cornerstone of Kaia FIT is friendship. We promote a healthy lifestyle through encouragement and challenge…its women building each other up while putting fitness first. Johna

Johna

Coach

Johna is originally from Fremont, Ca. She moved to the Sacramento area in 2003 after completing an 8 year enlistment in the U.S. Air Force. Johna’s interest in fitness and nutrition began when she started perusing her degree in Nursing. Core classes like nutrition and anatomy and physiology motivated her to begin eating healthier and exercising regularly. Eventually becoming bored and frustrated with her workout routine, the gym, and lack of results she decided to try CrossFit. This was the challenge she was looking for, but the competitive nature of the gym left her longing for more. Then an email from Living Social promoting a 6 week “bootcamp” caught her eye - Kaia FIT to the rescue! Her 1st BRIK was ROUGH! But she had finally found the complete package – motivation, real results, challenge, and comradery. GIRL POWER!! Now her passion lies in disease prevention and health and wellness promotion through nutrition and physical activity – aka Kaia FIT! She is so grateful to be a part of such an amazing and compassionate team committed to helping empower women to take control of their bodies, health, and well being. Along with being a Kaia coach she is also a veterinary assistant at a busy emergency animal hospital. She has 2 dogs (Zamira and Little Dog) and a cat (Oscar), whom she adores. Other interests include her boyfriend , traveling, food, and music. Education, Certifications, Etc. – AS, Sacramento City College – Nursing, Kaia FIT Certified Trainer, CA Registerd Nurse, BCLS, TRX Qulaified Trainer One word to describe yourself: Thoughtful Kaia FIT in one word: Challenging Favorite Kaia-approved meal or snack: Apple and almond butter Guilty food pleasure: Potatoes – French Fries (regular or sweet), chips, fried, mashed, ANY AND ALL A favorite fitness memory or “ah-ha” moment: Prior to Kaia I considered myself a relatively healthy eater – 85% of the time really good & 15% eat whatever I wanted. During my 2nd BRIK I (finally) started food journaling and following the nutrition plan – It made me realize what a HUGE emotional eater I am (ONLY carbs and sugar will do!), that I routinely reward myself with food (“Good job! Have a doughnut! Or 2…”) , and that dairy and I do not get along. Once I started being honest with myself and got serious about nutrition my body transformed, I had WAY more energy, and I felt like I got stronger by leaps and bounds.

Heather

Heather

Coach

Heather is a native Californian. Specifically, she has lived in Elk Grove her entire life. From an early age, she has been very active and a bit of a daredevil. When her parents saw her doing back flips off the coach, they knew she needed an outlet, so they enrolled her in gymnastics at the age of seven. Heather immediately fell in love with the competition and physical challenges, and she spent the next eight years training and traveling around California competing in gymnastic meets. Heather excelled in the sport and achieved a pre-Olympic status, but injuries took its toll. Furthermore, while 15 is considered young, in gymnastics it’s like being a senior citizen. Heather retired from gymnastics and decided to have a normal childhood: socializing with friends, weekends at the mall, and going to Friday night football games. Heather soon realized that she missed her rigorous training and physical activity in her life. However, she also missed being a part of something bigger. She missed the teamwork, so she joined running groups, cycling groups, and eventually she joined local cross training gym. While she enjoyed pushing herself to the limit, she had had too many injuries in her past, and she felt this was an injury waiting-to-happen. Witnessing the amazing results of her best friend Kristi, and hearing her speak so highly of this group of inspiring women she was working out with, Heather decided to give Kaia a try. After her first class she was hooked. After 2 years she decided she wanted to continue her fitness journey by becoming a Kaia coach. It’s a great match because she enjoys exercising and helping others! Maybe that’s why when she is not coaching or working out, she’s saving lives in a trauma ICU working as a critical care nurse. She has been an RN for the last 15 years. In her personal life, Heather has been married for 16 years. She and her husband share a love for animals. They currently have four spoiled rescued cats (who are regarded as their children). They also share a love for travel, nature, and outdoor activities. One word to describe yourself: Generous Kaia FIT in one word: Life-changing Favorite Kaia-approved meal or snack: Hummus and Mary’s Gone Crackers Guilty food pleasure: Sushi Favorite places: The ocean and the wilderness Heather will push you to your limit and beyond Her famous mantra is, “Exercise will not kill you, and if it does she will bring you back.” Dare to prove her wrong!

Kristen

Kristen

Coach

Kristen was born in Kansas but quickly found her way to Northern California and was raised in Tracy CA. After making her way through the Bay Area and spending some time living in Berkeley, she found her way to Elk Grove in 2002. Kristen’s love of fitness came later in life, when she bought a home workout video system and fell in love! Finally realizing the rewards both physically and mentally of working out, being active quickly became a daily part of her life. She joined a gym incorporating all different types of workouts: swimming, spin classes, boot camp, step aerobics, and even hip hop dance classes. In 2012 she ran her first Nike Half Marathon and found that training and completing races was a passion. After completing several half marathons, Kristen signed up for the California International Marathon (CIM) in 2013. Completing CIM was one of her greatest accomplishments and proved, through determination and hard work, she could obtain all her fitness goals. Kristen joined Kaia in September of 2016 and was quickly enamored with the culture and sisterhood that Kaia provided. It was well beyond just physical workouts and provided a complete wellness solution. Kaia has provided Kristen with some of the best friendships of her life as well as allowing her to be in the best shape of her life. Kristen has two almost grown children and is entering the next phase of her life. She loves hiking, spending time with friends, and just being at home with her kids. Being a Kaia Coach has already brought so much joy to her life, and she only hopes she can do the same for the Kaia girls she gets to coach! Education: Consumes River College: AA in Social Science California State University Sacramento: BS in Business Administration with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and General Management. One word to describe yourself: Passionate Kaia FIT in one word: Fun Favorite Kaia-approved meal or snack: Seriously Delicious Detox Salad Guilty food pleasure: Ice Cream A favorite fitness memory or “ah-ha” moment: Sitting on the couch seeing that some friends had signed up for CIM and thinking, “I could never do that.” That thought was quickly followed by the realization that I now needed to sign up because I couldn’t tell myself that I couldn’t do something. I needed to prove to myself that I could do anything. That thought got my through every training run and helped me cross that finish line.

As a part of our program, we also offer nutritional guidance to help you make healthy food choices and keep your fitness on track.

What are you waiting for? Join us today!

BARRE

Our barre-based class is a unique combination of postures inspired by ballet, yoga, Pilates and Kaia. Using the barre as a prop to balance, you’ll complete a series of isometric holds combined with high reps of small range movements to elongate and tone your major muscle groups.

In addition to the barre, classes incorporate pilates balls, yoga blocks, and/or resistance bands for increased endurance, challenge and focus. Following each set of holds, you’ll rest and recovery with a short series of stretches and poses to increase flexibility prior to advancing.
Kaia Barre is a low-impact class that perfectly complements our program offerings. Meet us at the barre and try your first class for free!

Participating locations may vary. See the schedule page for more details.

DANCE

Our dance fitness class is rooted in traditional dance. We use those foundational moves and offer a class that is easy enough for beginners yet challenging enough for the more seasoned dancer. The simplicity of the routines allows you to keep moving with ease. Although this is a workout, it feels more like a dance party with your girlfriends.

RUNNING

Improve your speed, skill, endurance, stamina, and strength with our Kaia running program. The program works on developing running skills that can increase speed, endurance, and overall fitness. The program is designed for you to run at your pace and and help you see improvements every step of the way.

The Kaia training is a simple, progressive program designed for women of all ages and all fitness levels. Whether you are a walker, jogger, or runner, you will be able to join this program and move at your own pace. Research has shown that even 20 to 30 minutes of running (two to three times per week) is enough to help you lose or maintain weight and improve many other important health markers, i.e. your cholesterol, blood pressure and insulin response.

Don’t be intimidated by the Kaia Run program name, each class will have walkers, joggers and runners. Keep in mind that the first mile is the hardest mile you will ever run. Once you get off the starting block, things only get easier. All you have to do is be patient and disciplined in your training, and that is where Kaia

POWER YOGA

Kaia Yoga combines mind and body with a power yoga and core-strengthening weekly workout with Pilates-style techniques. We focus on balance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness through stretching, strength training and dynamic movement to improve overall fitness levels.

By creating long, lean muscles, Yoga promotes improved coordination, greater flexibility and a fuller range of motion, with a strong body that’s less prone to injury. Yoga keeps the mind centered and reduces stress through positive thoughts and a sense of mindfulness, which also inspires mental strength and confidence.

Yin Yoga, or restorative yoga, is a quiet contemplative practice. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body. Poses are held for 1 minute or more and transitions between poses are gentle and slow. This class is an excellent compliment to our other classes, provides dedicated stretching, and is known to reduce stress and anxiety.
